ALA module
The ALA is a universal embedded module that can be easily integrated into existing sensors and devices and extend options with data recording, communication interface and data visualization on PC monitor.
| Typical is very low consumption and small dimensions that predestines the ALA module for use in battery-powered devices. It is ideal for example in autonomous measuring probes. The module enables highly flexible processing of measured values (linearization, calibration etc.) and optional data recording to memory. Due to these features, the module can be used immediately in relatively complicated sensor applications without developing your own hardware. |

Application scheme of ALA module
Typical application
A typical application of the ALA system is a room where you necessarily need to monitor and record physical qualities (temperature, humidity, air-presure). Detailed examples of applications are shown on ALA product family. The module is due to small dimensions and very low consumption designed perfectly to be integrated directly into all kinds of sensors.
Extra application of ALA
Basic ALA module features
- Ultra-low consumption (3 AA batteries effective lifetime of up to 5 years).
- Wide range of power voltage (3 to 28V). Option to automatically turn on the power supply of external sensors during measuring.
- 1MB Flash memory to store up to 150 000 values (e.g. 7 values every 30 minutes = circa 1 year)
- Option to disable storing of identical values to save memory
- Wide range of input signal to output value converting (averaging, calibration, linearization and others). Conversion of input signal according to specified table along with second signal as a parameter enables data processing from non-linear sensor including temperature compensation.
- The program support to connect ALA GPRS module, it contains SMS processing and web server. Option of firmware upgrade over serial interface.
- 1x serial RS232 (USB) port, option to connect GSM/GPRS modem.
- Entire communication proceeds over open text communication protocol.
- 7 universal I/O pins can be used as:
- analogue / digital input
- output to supply power to external sensors
- input for frequency measuring
- universal binary output
- Part of attached documentation are configuration examples for measuring all kinds of values including linearization and further processing.

FAQ & Support
Q: Is it possible to connect ALA1 module to USB port?
A: Yes, it is possible to buy a cable (as optional accessories) that enables you to connect the ALA module to USB port of your computer.
Q: What SW can I use?
A: Open text protocol is used for communication with the module hence you can used any terminal program. For more comfortable operating, the ALA connect program is supplied. It enables you to setup parameters and read values interactively.
Q: How can I connect to ALA module remotely?
A: GSM / GPRS modem can be connected to serial line. It enables you to set parameters and access data throughout the internet. Another option is to send SMS or e-mail over SMTP including actual values - periodically or when values are changed.
Q: In case a new firmware is available, is it possible for user to update it?
A: Yes, it is simple to update firmware over X protocol - serial port mode.
Q: You notice that external sensors can be turn on for measuring period. How to keep the demand for stabilizing the sensor?
A: To lower consumption it is possible to configure several outputs to turn on power supply for external sensors. It is possible to set up an advance time (time showing how much earlier, how much in advance the sensor will be powered with electricity) for each individually to keep the needed time for sensor stabilization.
