Poseidon 2250 zbiera odczyty z zewnętrznych czujników i wejść dla styczników bezprądowych, i zapisuje wartości w lokalnej pamięci flash. Maksymalny dystans do czujnika to 1000m, a maksymalna ilość czujników to 40. Poseidon 2250 obsługuje tanie czujniki 1-wire, platynowe czujniki temperatury (Pt100, Pt1000) oraz czujniki przemysłowe na magistralę RS-485 (interfejs 4–20 mA / 0–10V). Zmierzone wartości są dostępne poprzez protokoły HTTP, SNMP lub Modbus/TCP dla zewnętrznych systemów (SCADA, NMS). Zawartość logu może być przesyłana automatycznie na e-mail, importowana do bazy danych, lub przetwarzana w arkuszu MS Excel (dzięki oprogramowaniu HWg-PDMS). W celu wysyłania powiadomień SMS można podłączyć modem GSM. Wśród wartości, jakie może monitorować Poseidon 2250 znajdują się: temperatura, wilgotność, ciśnienie atmosferyczne, światło, napięcie, natężenie prądu, zużycie energii, odległość, CO2, przepływ powietrza i inne. Poseidon 2250 obsługuje wszystkie rodzaje czujników produkowanych przez HW group. Jedną z typowych aplikacji dla Poseidon 2250 jest zdalne monitorowanie i logowanie temperatur w aptece. Urządzenie mierzy temperatury z 4 czujników umieszczonych w chłodziarkach oraz loguje każde otwarcie drzwi. Odczyty są zapisywane w lokalnej pamięci flash i raz na jakiś czas przesyłane poprzez e-mail na serwer przetwarzający dane.

Each probe has an individually-configurable name and safe range. When the safe range is exceeded (alarm), e-mail, SMS or SNMP trap is invoked.
