Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI:
4 to 20 mA current loop measurement, providing power

Electrically isolated 4 to 20 mA DC current sensor, 1-Wire UNI (RJ11) output. Electrically isolated, sources current to power an external 4-20mA probe.
Connect an external industrial probe with a 4-20mA current loop output (“sink” type). For example a CO2 sensor or a tank level probe.

Connect probe 4 to 20 mASignal converter – sensor for 4-20mA current loop output of external probes. Contains a current source for powering the external probe. The current loop input is electrically isolated from the 1Wire-UNI bus.

Measure the output of any external industrial sensor with a 4-20mA output (“sink” type). For example a pressure transducer, a CO2 sensor or a tank level probe.

Almost any industrial sensor can be connected to Poseidon2 or Ares units in this way. The values can be shared over LAN or GSM. When the current is out of a specified range, e-mail or SMS is sent. Can be connected to remote monitoring systems that are based on SNMP or Modbus/TCP.

  • Includes a current source for the external probes.
  • The measured 4-20mA current is electrically isolated from the 1-Wire UNI bus (RJ11).
  • The sensor can be used in industrial environments. The current loop can be several tens or hundreds of meters long.

  • Output reading in [mA] can be calibrated and/or converted to other units (e.g. fuel level in the tank in [m]) directly in the sensor.

Connecting 4-20mA sensors over a LAN – remote monitoring (SNMP, Modbus/TCP)

  • There is a level probe with a 4-20mA output in the tank.
  • Sensor 4-20mA measures the output of the level probe (4-20 mA current loop) and supplies power to the probe (4mA).
  • Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI converts the analog signal to the 1-Wire UNI (RJ11) bus.
  • Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI current sensing signal converter is connected to a Poseidon2 3266 remote monitoring LAN unit over the 1-Wire UNI (RJ11) bus.
  • Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI must be powered through a separate connection. It is possible to use another power adapter or the Power Out terminals of the Poseidon2 unit.
     
  • Poseidon2 3266 displays the external current readings in its web interface.
  • Poseidon2 3266 sends an e-mail or a text message (SMS) when the current is outside of a specified "SafeRange".
  • Poseidon2 3266 shares data over the LAN using SNMP, XML (http) and Modbus/TCP.
  • Poseidon2 3266 can be connected to the SensDesk.com online portal.
  • Sensor readings can be displayed using an Android or iOS (Apple) app for tablets or mobile phones.

GSM monitoring of 4-20mA sensors (GPRS data, online portal)

  • An external probe with a 4 to 20 mA current loop output measures the CO2 concentration and is connected to the Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI. The current loop also supplies power to the CO2 probe.
  • The analog 4-20mA signal is converted by the Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI to the 1-Wire UNI bus (RJ11).
  • Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI signal converter is connected to an Ares 12 remote monitoring GSM unit over the 1-Wire UNI (RJ11) bus.
  • "Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI" requires an external 12-30VDC power supply. The internal Ares battery does NOT back-up this power supply.
     
  • Ares 12 is a GSM/GPRS unit for remote measurement and monitoring.
  • The Sensor 4-20mA 1W-UNI current sensor can be configured to convert units and display the CO2 concentration in [ppm].
  • Ares 12 sends an e-mail or a text message (SMS) when the input current (CO2 concentration) is outside of a specified "SafeRange".
      
  • Ares 12 can be connected to the SensDesk.com online portal.
  • Sensor readings can be displayed using an Android or iOS (Apple) app for tablets or mobile phones.
