EZL - 50 - rozložení signálů na pinech:

Ethernet communication modes :
Converter can behave as a client/server device according to chosen MUX TYPE (function modes):
| Communication
mode |
Protocol |
Connection
Type |
|
| T2S |
TCP
| Passive = TCP Server |
Converter listens on the selected port and awaits client's connection which can thereafter send or receive data |
| ATC |
TCP |
TCP Client / TCP Server |
Communication is controlled by transmitting AT commands over serial line which allows setting of the client/server mode (COD, T2S). |
| COD |
TCP |
Active = TCP Client |
Converter establishes connection when RS-232 port receives the data and allows transmission. |
| U2S |
UDP |
Point-to-Point / Broadcast |
Defined TCP port awaits data and sends them to IP address without a transmission control. This allows using a broadcast. |
| T2S, ATC, COD and U2S are the names of the individual FirmWares for the module. To change the mode it is necessary to upload specific FirmWare into the module via serial port. |
Other supported communication protocols : ARP, EZCFG, DHCP, TELNET,
TFTP
Experiences
ezVSP (Virtual Serial Port) program:
- Instalation of this program is conditioned by ownership of at least one module.
- During installation it's necessary to enter the MAC address of the module and a key which is obtained by a registration on Sollae webpage. Further installation description can be found in the program manual.
Configuration with ezConfig:
- To establish a connection between the configuration program and the module this module must be connected to the Ethernet network.
- By choosing a MAC address of the module the connection will be established.
- The program can set parameters of both ethernet and serial port.
General:
- The connection of the module's serial port and the application must be performed by so called "zero mode" principle. That means connection of the RxD - TxD and RTS - CTS pins from the view of both ends of the connecting cable..
Package
Download software
ezConfig
- for module configuration from PC via LAN and WiFi.
Allows setting parameters for Ethernet and serial transmision.
- ezcfg24.zip (85kB)
- hotflash
- for loading firmware over Ethernet (TFTP)
- hotflash.zip (97kB)
ezTerm
- for testing communication (terminal for PC)
- ezterm.zip (69kB)
ezVSP
- Virtual Serial Port for Windows - creates on the PC a virtual serial port (e.g. COM 7) which can be referenced by other programs and communicated as with the RS-232 interface even though the data transfer is actually via TCP/IP.
Note: Program is intended for Windows 2000/XP only!
- ezVSP14a.zip (4,3MB)
Note: All programs (except ezVSP) work under OS Windows 98 and higher
Comparison of the Charon I and the EZL-50
What is the difference between the EZL-50 and the module known in Czech Republic - Charon I?
Essentialy the EZL-50 is similar product which differs only in these parameters:
- Charon I supports SW handshake, EZL-50 does not.
- Charon I contains another 8 TTL I/O pins that can be controlled over Ethernet, EZL-50 has no such pins.
- EZL-50 can signalize open TCP connection on the P0 pin, Charon I cannot.
- For each mode of the EZL-50 its necessary to upload specific FW, Charon I supports all in one firmware which is configured in the setup mode.
- EZL-50 supports AT Command mode, Charon I has nothing like that.
- Charon I supports detailed definition of the begining and the end data which are to be send from serial line into the Ethernet, EZL-50 does not.
- Charon I supports at once hendshaking on the external driver of the RS-485 line and the Half Duplex mode necessary for conversion to RS-485. EZL-50 does not support this.
- EZL-50 uses connector with a RM of 2mm , Charon I uses standard 2,54 mm RM
Frequently Asked Questions & support..
Question: What is the difference between versions 50 and 60?
Answer: The EZL-50 version represents only the embedded module
which can be installed into the printed circuit of your device by the means of a 2x12-pin interface.
Besides the slot for the EZL-50 the EZL-60 version also contains classic 9-pin RS-232 connector and an RJ-45 ethernet connector for a UTP cable.
The EZL-60 kit can be immediately and simply connected into the network and used.
Question: Would the serial port of the module work as a Virtual
Serial Port under Windows?
Answer: YES, the converter fully supports the function of remote Virtual Serial Port through TCP/IP. Moreover the producer offers free program ezVSP to download. It's only necessary to register and enter the MAC address of the module you've bought.
Question: Is it necessary to program the module some way if I only need a simple GateWay from RS-232 (TTL) to TCP/IP or UDP/IP?
Answer: NO, you only need to use the module and set necessary parameters. If you don't want to use a default Firmware for a TCP server it's necessary to upload new FW into the module via RS-232. You don't have to program anything!
Question: Is it possible to configure the module by other means than through Windows programs?
Answer: YES, by the means of AT commands through serial port and any terminal. The sequence of ASCII chars as AT commands can be thus transmitted even from singlechip microcontroller. The list of usable AT commands with examples of correct configuration sequences contains a detailed manual for the specific module.
Question: Is it possible to change a FirmWare in the module?
Answer: Yes it is, innovated FirmWares can be downloaded from the Sollae's webpage (www.ezTCP.com) and load into the module via Ethernet by the means of the program hotflash.
Question: Does the ezVSP (Virtual Serial Port) software allow creating more than one virtual port?
Answer: Yes, this software allows to set up to 127 virtual ports on one PC. Detailed guide on this can be found in the program's manual which is free to download on this page in the menu item "Datasheets".
