installation consists of up to several dozens of networked devices,
installation and maintenance is not very demanding.

M1
(Monitor
one) is a very sophisticated software with basic Service Desk
functionality. The software relies on the SNMP protocol, and
contains embedded functions for detecting and discovering devices.
Monitor can create intuitive multi-level
hierarchical network topology maps that can be made easier to
understand and more attractive by adding geographical maps or floor
plans as a background.

MikroTik – The
Dude


MikroTik is well-known manufacturer of wireless
devices. Besides, they also develop The Dude – a management and
monitoring software. Its license is freeware; however, its capabilities
are comparable to commercial products. It is focused on more
technically-oriented people who prefer ease of use and a simple
interface.
A disadvantage is a lack of advanced alerting and
limited reporting capabilities.

Server Monitor is a very user-friendly and robust system
for IT infrastructure monitoring. It was designed primarily for
monitoring

systems for monitoring networks and servers.
Its biggest advantage is a sophisticated web interface that is easy to
use and enables access to all features.
Ipswitch provides strong reporting tools, too.

The
Turkey-based CBR company has several interesting products in its
portfolio, including the eye.
The eye is available in two versions with a different range of
functions and scalability.
Little:eye is a full-featured NMS, with lots of functions and an
excellent user interface.
Reporting capabilities are
extensive, and so are monitoring capabilities.
To extend the functionality, Little:eye can be connected to another
product by the same company
to add a powerful graph processing.

intended for monitoring enterprise information systems
and the associated network infrastructure. It supports advanced methods
for managing and configuring active network elements via SNMP. Various

In addition, monitored nodes can be organized into maps, reports can be
created periodically, etc.
