Poseidon Eye (PN Eye) manual

PN Eye is designed for configuration and supervising of Poseidon devices. PN Eye allows you to dump and log values of all sensors, redirect SNMP to Email or SMS and other. The program simplifies using of Poseidon models - it is easy to configure IP address, back-up configuration or update firmware.

Assign IP Address

This bookmark is used for basic communication parameters setting of the device. It supports (using UDP broadcast) searching for connected devices on local network and setting its parameters.

  • Find Devices button
    Click this button to search for all connected devices in your subnetwork.
     
  • Device list

Device list

This window shows IP and MAC addresses (physical address) of devices connected to your subnetwork. Click the device to highlight it and network parameters (see right) will be automatically inserted.
    • Module IP - IP address of highlighted device. If you need to change its value click on it and write new IP address. Click Apply Changes to save it.
    • HTTP Port - Port for HTTP communication with the device, default value is 80.
    • IP Mask - IP Mask must be equal for all devices in one subnetwork
    • IP Gateway - for example IP address of PC, router or switch that device is directly connected to
    • Enable DHCP - Poseidon device does not support DHCP.
    • Enable TCP setup - To turn TCP setup on (default on port 99). We recommend to disable TCP Setup for maximum security.

    Click Apply Changes button to save changes.
  • Autodetect Sensors button
    Auto detection of all sensors connected to Poseidon. Auto detection takes about 60 seconds.
    Poseidon device does not support auto detection of sensors.
     
  • Select device from list Button
    Before you use IP address of selected device in other bookmarks, it is necessary to click Select device from list button or to write IP address to space bellow manually. You can not use functions in other bookmarks before this.


Selected device

This window defines IP address of the device that you work in other bookmarks with. Values can be filled manually or imported by clicking Select device from list button from the list above.

    Selected device
    • Selected device name - Name of the selected device can not be changed here. You can change it via Flash interface via WWW page of the device.
    • Device IP - IP address of selected device
      Click "Select device from list" button to import IP address from " Device list or you can set and edit it manually.
    • HTTP Port - port for communication with selected devices
    • SNMP to SMS, redirecting of alarms, SNMP to email, SNMP alarm, alarm monitoring, temperature monitoring over SMS Use This button - Click this button to select IP address of the device that will work with PN Eye program.

      Attention:
      Click this button to avoid malfunction in following bookmarks!
       
  • SNMP to SMS, redirecting of alarms, SNMP to email, SNMP alarm, alarm monitoring, temperature monitoring over SMSUpdate device config button - to upload XML file (for Poseidon configuration) from PC.
  • Download device config button - To download current configuration of Poseidon and save it to disk.
  • Open in WEB Browser button - Click this button to open WWW page of selected Poseidon.

 

Device Setup

Device Setup bookmark can be used for local or remote configuration in terminal mode. A typical user will not need it.

Features:
  • Poseidon Configuration in terminal mode
    • in Serial Setup mode over PC serial port.
    • in TCP Setup mode over ethernet.
       
  • Device FirmWare Update
    • over serial port RS-232
    • over Ethernet via TCP/IP

  • Terminal Window
    Text terminal window for communication. To close this window click right mouse button and choose option in menu.
  • Connection
    Connection Device communication type selection, FirmWare upload.
    • Serial Port - Poseidon connected over serial port RS-232
    • TCP/IP - Poseidon connected over network, define     IP address and TCP Setup port (default value is 99) of the device.

    • Connect / Disconnect (or Open / Close for RS-232) button - it opens (closes) terminal connection (over TCP/IP or RS-232).
    • FW Update button - it starts recording new Firmware into deviceSNMP to SMS, redirecting of alarms, SNMP to email, SNMP alarm, alarm monitoring, temperature monitoring over SMS.
      Attention - while updating Firmware, data loss in Poseidon may occur.
    • Web Interface button - It offers redirection to HTML interface of Poseidon.

 

Sensors

This bookmark includes list of connected sensors and its current values, alarm sets and safe range value.

Features:
  • Representing values of all sensors
    • Name of each sensor, its unique ID
    • Current value of binary input/ humidity / temperature
    • Alarm in case of exceeding "Safe range"
    • Belt of safe extent "Safe range"
  • Single logging of values
  • Pasting values to clipboard
  • Refreshing values in configurable period
  • Logging of values in configurable period
  • Saving log file in CVS or XML file

    Sensors list
  • Sensors list
    Main window with values of connected sensors. Background color shows the state of Alarm.
      - Yellow = Value is out of "Safe range" but alarm is not active.
      - Red = Value is out of "Safe range". Alarm is active.
    • Name - Name of sensor, that can be configured via "Flash Setup" interface
    • Value - Current value of the sensor in selected units (ON / OFF for binary inputs sensors)
    • ID - Unique ID of each sensor of Poseidon
    • Alarm - Alarm is activated as soon as value of the sensor exceeds range defined as "Safe Range" when it is active.
    • Safe range - Range of unrestricted values. As soon as the value is out of this range, Alarm is activated, when it is active.
  • Web Interface button - it helps redirect quickly to HTML interface of Poseidon.
  • Copy Values to Clipboard
    To copy values to clipboard to use in other application (in CSV type)

 

  • Reload values
    Reload valuesInterval of value refreshing can be configured here.
    • Automatic reload every - when enabled (checked) PN Eye automatically logs new values according to selected interval.
      Attention: The lowest adjustable value is 5 seconds!
    • Read values now - Reads current values of sensors

 

  • Save values to the logfiles - PN Eye automatically saves values of the sensors according to interval defined in "Automatic reload every" when enabled (checked)
    • View CVS logfile button
      It displays outlook of CVS file with saved values. It displays only last 200 saved values, the other are stored in the file but not displayed in this outlook.
    • View XML logfile button
      It displays outlook of XML file with saved values. It displays only last 200 saved values, the other are stored in the file but not displayed in this outlook.

  • Poseidon2 functions
    When used with Poseidon 2250 (log type of Poseidon), logfile is downloaded from the device or it is deleted.

 

Alarms

Bookmark to select action after alarm receiving. Alarm information can be sent via e-mail or SMS, at the same time it is saved to log file.

Parameters:
  • Configuration of port for receiving of SNMP traps (standard is 162)
  • Alarm redirection to Email
    • SMTP Server setting
    • Setting of transmitting device, receiving devices and subject of e-mail.
  • Alarm redirecting to SMS using external GSM modem
    • Connecting of GSM modem and its type
    • PIN of SIM card in GSM modem
    • Recipients' phone number setting
  • Alarm logging to file and setting of the path to alarm log

  • Enable receiving the SNMP traps from port - Setting of port for receiving of SNMP traps, enables to receive SNMP traps that are transmitted from Poseidon when alarm is activated (sensor value out of save range).

  • Forward Alarms to email
    temperature and humidity over SMS and E-mailEnabling and setting of alarm SNMP parameters for transmitting via E-mail.
    If you use PN Eye to redirect alarm report (SNMP Trap) from more devices, e-mail can contain only basic information.
    • Queue - number of e-mails waiting to be sent, queue can be empted clicking the button with icon of trash bin placed right from "Test sending email now" button.
    • SMTP Server
      Setting of name or IP address of SMTP server used for e-mail sending.
      In the case you leave this space empty, e-mail is sent directly from your PC. Some mail servers may refuse this e-mail as a security risk (we recommend to test it).
    • User Name / Password - name and password requested for sending over SNMP server.
    • Sender - Setting of sender's e-mail address which is displayed in e-mail.
    • Recipient - Recipient's e-mail for alarm.
    • CC - E-mail address for copy of alarm e-mail.
    • Subject - subject of e-mail. We recommend to provide for example name and IP address of logged Poseidon etc.
    • Attach Sensors.csv logfile
      When e-mail is sent from supervised Poseidon, file "Sensors.csv", which contains last 200 records with measured values, is attached.
    • Test Email alarm Test sending email now button - To test e-mail sending under configured parameters.
      E-mails waiting to be sent can be erased clicking trash bin icon (see "Queue").


     

  • Forward Alarms to SMS over GSM modem
    SMS parameters - temperature and humidity via SMS and Email
  • Various setting of parameters for redirecting SNMP alarm to SMS.
    If you use PN Eye to redirect report about alarm (SNMP Trap) from more devices, e-mail can contain only basic information.
    • Queue - number of e-mails waiting to be sent, queue can be empted clicking the button with icon of trash bin placed right from Test sending button.
    • GSM modem connected to - RS-232 serial port which is connected to supported GSM modem.
    • GSM modem type - type of connected GSM modem
    • SIM card PIN - PIN of SIM card in connected modem
    • SMS target number 1 - Primary number where to send SMS information about alarm.
    • SMS target number 2 - Secondary number where to send SMS including information about alarm
    • humidity and temperature over SMS and E-mail Test sending SMS now button - it tests sending SMS under configured parameters


     

  • Alarms logfile
  • logování AlarmůIf checked (enabled), PN Eye automatically saves values of sensors which are out of Safe range and in alarm status.
    • Alarms logfile
      Location of log file (default the same directory where the application is running from). You can search for the file using icons on the right side (Windows explorer) or to display file in notepad application
    • View Alarm logfile - displays last 200 lines of alarm file

PN Eye settings

General setting of PN Eye application, as location of log file etc.

Parameters :
  • Setting to start PN Eye after Windows boot
    • Saving and refreshing of start configuration
  • General setting of program
  • Location of file to log values, the main log file

  • General settings (default)
    General parameters of PN Eye program
    • Start PN Eye when the Windows Start-up
      It runs program after PC boot. "Startup" setting is used after start.
    • Save settings as StartUp values
      This option saves current setting of all options (in all bookmarks) and checkable spaces of the program as "StartUp" setting. The program starts with this setting after system boot.
      If you need periodically read values, for example every 5 minutes, set and save all parameters here.
    • Restore StartUp settings
      This option changes values from current setting and checkable spaces of PN Eye to default "StartUp" setting. You can close and afterwards open the program to get the same result.
    • Enable RING Query SMS status information request
      This option enables to send sensor status information via SMS when one of the SMS Alarm recipient (SMS target number 1 a 2) "rings" PN Eye. SMS is sent to the phone number that rang PN Eye.
    • Enable RING Query from all numbers
      This option enables to send sensor status information via SMS when some number "rings" PN Eye. SMS is sent to the phone number that rang PN Eye.
    • End of alarms forwarding enable
      This enables to send information about beginning and termination of Alarm using selected mode (E-mail, SMS, Log file).

  • Sensors logfile
    Setting of location for saving of files containing sensor values.
    • CSV logfile - CSV file location to store measured values, you can search for the file using Windows explorer or open it in notepad application.
    • XML logfile - XML file location to store measured values, you can search for the file using Windows explorer or open it in notepad application.
    Limit for file size
    Before exceeding file size of 5 MB, new file is opened and the old one is saved in file_YYMMDD_HHMMSS format (for example "PN_Eye_051201_184850.csv" or "PN_Eye_051201_184850.xml" or "PN_Eye_051201_184850.log" ).

  • Main logfile - location of main log file
