Erkennt nicht antwortende LAN-Geräte oder deren Ausfall. Überwacht Geräteverfügbarkeit über IP (PING/WEB) oder über serielle Leitung (RS-232). Bei Ausfall startet er das Gerät neu, ohne menschliches Zutun. Es können bis zu 10 Geräte überwacht werden.

IP WatchDog2 überprüft in regelmäßigen Abständen, ob die Geräte funktionieren (durch die Übertragung oder den Eingang eines "Ich funktioniere und bin OK"-Signals über IP oder RS-232). Wenn die richtige Antwort nicht rechtzeitig empfangen wird, wird das Gerät durch ein Relais neu gestartet. Alles ist automatisiert, ohne zusätzliche Software oder menschliches Zutun.

IP WatchDog2 Industrial überwacht die Verfügbarkeit von bis zu 10 Geräten. Wenn ein Ausfall erkannt wird, reagiert WatchDog2 vermittels erneuter Stromversorgung oder Neustart des Gerätes unter Verwendung von zwei Ausgangskanälen (Relais).

Die Art der Geräteüberwachung kann zum Großteil konfiguriert werden. Die zweite Generation fügt 8 virtuelle Eingänge hinzu, bietet umfassendere Vorfallsprotokollierung, eine SNMP-Schnittstelle, die Möglichkeit SMS-Nachrichten zu versenden und die Unterstützung des SensDesk.com Online-Portals. Die Industrieversion von IP WatchDog2 umfasst eine serielle Schnittstelle, um die Funktion von Maschinen zu überwachen oder ein GSM-Modem anzuschließen.

Typische Anwendungen umfassen die Möglichkeit, die Verfügbarkeit von bis zu 10 Netzwerkgeräten (Router, Switches, WiFi Access Points) zu überwachen, sie erneut zu starten und/oder die Anzeige eines Ausfalls, wann immer dieser erkannt wird. IP WatchDog2 kann verwendet werden, um eine nicht antwortende Maschine (RS-232), LAN-Verbindung, IP-Kamera oder ein anderes nicht antwortendes Netzwerkgerät zu erkennen.

Industrielle Anwendungen profitieren von der DIN-Schienen-Montage und den Ausgangs-Relais, die 110/230V AC, max. 16A, direkt schalten können.

    Usage examples

      IP WatchDog - IP address monitoring - IP address restart, web watchdog, ping restart, rs-232, web relay 110V, remote reboot, autonomous restart
    • Restarting a router / switch
      Every minute, a PING request is sent to the main and backup servers. This ping monitoring allows to perform an autonomous restart. If the connection fails, the power for a router / switch / WiFi AP (Access Point) is interrupted for a few seconds - the product acts as a ping relay.
       
    • IP camera monitor
      Monitors the accessibility of the web interface of an IP camera (as a web watchdog). In case of outage, the camera is restarted, or an alarm output is activated (e.g. in a security system).
       
    • WiFi AP device monitor
      Keeps checking if the network connection at a remote site works. In case of an outage, the WiFi router is automatically restarted.
      In addition, the IP WatchDog2 web interface can be used for a remote reboot of the router, as a remote power switch.
       
    • Monitoring / restarting the PC in an information stand
      Monitors the function of a PC in an autonomous information kiosk consisting of a PC with a touchscreen.
      If the monitored PC does not send an “I'm alive” signal (ping heartbeat or request for a web page), IP WatchDog2 alerts the operator or performs a remote reboot of the PC.

    Text message (SMS) alerts

    Sending SMS over the LAN through a central SMS-GW

    Text message alerts to outages of a monitored device can be sent from IP WatchDog2 Industrial using a central SMS-GW.
    In the web interface of IP WatchDog2, configure the recipient's phone number and the IP address of your central “HWg-SMS-GW” gateway.
    No software is necessary, only a working LAN connection is needed.

    One “HWg-SMS-GW” gateway can be shared by several devices (e.g. Poseidon2 4002 in the picture).

    External GSM modem

    IP Watchdog2 Industrial features a RS-232 interface, which can be used to connect a machine (in order to monitor its function) or an external GSM modem.
    When the "SMS + Ring When Alarm" function is checked, the SMS alarm recipient's number is dialed to let it ring for a few seconds in order to alert to the alarm.


    With the HWg-Trigger application for Windows

    The HWg-Trigger application can be started on any MS Windows PC. This application, based on “IF – THEN“ rules, checks for device alarms, including outages. Alarm status can be notified e.g. by sending a SMS to a specified number.

      Spam protection. How many is SIX times six?

    • What is the difference between Lite and Industrial versions of the IP WatchDog2?
      See the table above. The Industrial version is easier to mount on a DIN rail, the relay outputs can be directly used to switch 110/230V (power relay 230V / relay 110V), and a RS-232 serial port is present to connect a machine (for use as a rs-232 watchdog) or a GSM modem. Software functions, with the exception of added Modbus/TCP support, are identical.
    • Can the IP WatchDog2 monitor if my Internet connection works?
      Yes, it can be used as a network connectivity monitoring device. The simplest method is to periodically test, using PING, the connection to a well-known server, such as Google. For the ping monitoring to work, the server must support PING reply.
    • Can IP WatchDog2 perform IP address restart - that is, IP address monitoring and autonomous restart (ping boot)?
      Yes, it can periodically send ping requests to the server, and if there is no response to ping power off/on or reboot the server. In addition to ping server monitoring, it can also check for Web page requests / responses or a RS-232 string.
    • Can the device monitor, IP WatchDog2, detect the availability of any LAN device?
      Yes, as long as the device has a web interface or responds to PING. When the LAN device no longer responds to ping, automatically reboot using the IP WatchDog2 power relay 230V / relay 110V - the product works as a ping relay. As a web watchdog, IP WatchDog2 detects the accessibility of a given web page, or checks for requests addressed to its own web interface.
    • Can I manually turn the output on/off over the Web?
      Yes, an unused relay output can be controlled remotely via the web interface, turning the product into an on/off remote power switch / remote reset tool.
    • Does the IP watchdog always beep (internal audible alarm) when it detects an outage?
      No, not always. The built-in audio output can be assigned to one output channel, both output channels, or no output channel.
        
    • Is it possible to prevent repeated restart attempts if the monitored device still does not respond after the first RESET?
      Yes, set Timeout After Reboot to 0. Then, after RESET, IP WatchDog2 will wait for a signal indicating that the monitored device is available.
    • I cannot “ping” the IP WatchDog2 from my computer, or vice versa. What is wrong?
      Make sure that the IP WatchDog2 web interface is accessible from your PC. If this works, make sure that no firewall is running on the computer that you use to test PING. If a firewall is running, turn it off.
      Even the MS Windows firewall can filter traffic. In the firewall configuration, make sure that the necessary ICMP messages – echo reply and echo request – are not blocked; allow them if needed. Some servers block ping requests to prevent Ping of Death attacks.
    • How long does IP WatchDog2 ping relay wait after startup before performing the first reset? Is this delay configurable?
      The first reset after startup is controlled by the Timeout after reboot parameter.
       
    • What can SNMP in the IP WatchDog2 ping restarter be used for?
      The product can be monitored remotely using the SNMP protocol, and can send SNMP Traps.
    • How many SMS recipients can be configured?
      SMS can be sent via a HWg-SMS-GW gateway or an external GSM modem. IP WatchDog2 sends text messages to a maximum of 5 phone numbers.
       
    • Can I monitor the IP WatchDog2 network watchdog on the SensDesk portal?
      Yes. The SensDesk.com portal can, for example, send you an e-mail or a cell message if the connectivity to IP WatchDog2 fails.
    • Is there an app for my mobile phone?
      Yes. However, we primarily recommend to connect your IP WatchDog2 ping monitor to the SensDesk portal and use the SensDesk Mobile app for your smartphone.
       
    • Can IP WatchDog2 be connected to a SCADA system?
      Yes. The "IP WatchDog2 Industrial" version supports Modbus/TCP, allowing integration with any industrial visualization software.
    • Is it possible to power IP WatchDog2 Industrial over the Ethernet?
      Not with the standard product version.
      Upon request, under a different ordering No., a PoE version can be supplied. This version can be powered from an external adapter also over the Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af).
