In installations with electricity meters without M-Bus or Modbus, there is also a need to collect pulses for electricity consumption measurement. HW group produces several devices with S0-enabled digital inputs, which are the standard option for collecting pulses from such electricity meters. Damocles2 1208 with 12 DIs is one of the most cost effective choices for such projects.

Issue description:

In installations where electricity meters provide only pulses, a single Damocles2 1208 with 12 S0-enabled digital inputs can provide a complete solution for energy consumption measurement.

In Finland, an individual engineer in electronics was looking for a cost-effective solution to measure energy consumption of ten family houses in a village.

With a requirement of having as much as ten digital inputs with pulse counters on a single device to measure consumption, a single Damocles2 1208 unit was chosen for this purpose. With a LAN connection, and twelve DIs available (with S0 support), this single device represents good cost/functionality ratio with all the connectivity (HTTPs, IPv6, SNMPv3) and integration (MQTT, Modbus/TCP, Syslog, XML API) options available.

Ten Schneider electricity meters are wired into a single Damocles2 1208 unit, which measures the pulses and further sends the data via SNMP API to a external web server, which is accessible from public internet, where it is combined with the electricity prices on a hourly basis for each household.

This compact and efficient solution is a great example of utilizing Damocles2 1208s DI capability and the API functions to built a smaller analytics system for local use. As a manufacturer, we are always excited to see individuals building systems for their community based on our hardware.
